The Writing Center is part of the Carroll's Learning Commons.  Peer tutors are available to help students with any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to citation.  Tutors are trained to facilitate student learning by asking questions and directing them to resources.

Student writing is most likely to improve when the student takes ownership of their work.  For that reason, tutors in the writing center do not proofread or correct papers, nor can they teach students how to write.  The tutors are Carroll students who care deeply about writing and want to help their peers to produce their own best work.

The Writing Center offers writing workshops for both students and faculty.

For faculty who are interested in making use of the writing center's resources, we suggest scheduling a classroom visit from a writing assisant who can provide a short presentation on the Writing Center.

If you have questions about the Writing Center, would like suggestions about running a writing workshop, having tutors faciliate classroom work, or are looking for ideas about how to use writing in your curriculum, please contact Writing Center Director Susan Nusser.
