Therapy Building
The Physical
Therapy Building, opened in September, 1996, is a single-story,
ADA accessible, modular steel structure with over 8,000 square feet
of space. The building contains two Lecture/Laboratory classrooms;
a rehabilitation laboratory; a student computer and media laboratory;
a student lounge; office space for full-time and adjunct faculty
and administrative staff; a faculty conference room; storage space;
and rest rooms. The space also contains state-of-the-art physical
therapy equipment.
Ganfield
Gymnasium
Named for William
Arthur Ganfield, Carroll's seventh president, the Ganfield Gymnasium
opened in 1924 and underwent extensive renovation in 1980. It contains
facilities for physical education classes and intramural and intercollegiate
athletics and features a full-size basketball court with seating
for 500 and a dance studio. The entry-level Master of Physical Therapy
program's Biomechanics and Exercise teaching and research laboratories
are located adjacent to the gymnasium floor. The 2400 square feet
includes the Biomechanics Laboratory and Exercise Laboratory; rest
rooms, a locker room, and a storage area. The gymnasium floor is
available to the department for laboratories.
Equipment
State-of-the-art
equipment including Power Macintosh G3 computers; video and computer
motion analysis measurement technology (ProReflex motion analysis
system; Power Macintosh G3); an electromyographic telemetry system
(Noraxon 8 ch. telemetry EMG unit); a portable force analysis system
(2 Kistler Portable Force Plate and Walkway); a variety of muscle
strengthening and cardiovascular endurance training equipment and
physiological analyses systems; heat, cold, and electrotherapy modality
and hydrotherapy equipment; and other rehabilitation equipment are
available to the students.
