Master
of Physical Therapy Degree
The
Master of Physical Therapy is awarded at Carroll College. A candidate
must follow the outlined curriculum
and complete a minimum of 194 credits
with a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
During
the pre-professional
phase, the freshman, sophomore, and junior years, students must
complete a minimum of 96 credits in their undergraduate majors with
pre-Physical Therapy emphasis, including all general degree and
distribution requirements, while fulfilling the requirements
for entrance into the professional phase.
The
program's professional
phase is divided into two phases, Phase I and Phase II. During
Phase I, students complete 32 credits of courses in physical therapy
at the 400 level. Several of the courses are also elective courses
in the Departments of Biology and Psychology. Bachelor's degrees
are awarded to those students satisfying all relevant College requirements
at the conclusion of Phase I. In addition, students must satisfy
specific academic
requirements in order to progress in both Phase I and Phase
II of the Entry-Level Master of Physical Therapy program.
During
Year 1 of Phase II, students take 40 credits of courses in physical
therapy at the 500 level. Twenty-six credits of physical therapy
courses at the 600 level are taken during Year 2 of Phase II. An
entry-level Master of Physical Therapy degree is awarded upon successful
completion of Phases I and II. As part of the Phase II professional
curriculum, the candidates must satisfactorily complete 29 weeks
of clinical education at facilities
affiliated with Carroll.
